LONG & FOSTER® Lists $30 Million Fort Washington, Pennsylvania Property

CHANTILLY, Va., Oct. 11, 2011— Long & Foster® Real Estate, Inc., the largest independent residential real estate company in the United States and a leader in the sale of luxury properties, today announced it has listed, as part of its extensive number of current listings, the Arbor Hill estate, considered to be one of the region’s most prominent properties. Approximately a 30-minute drive from Philadelphia, Arbor Hill is listed by Charles Irwin and Reggie Hunt, sales associates with Long & Foster Real Estate’s Wayne, Pa., office and is offered at $30 million.

“We are very excited about this unique and beautiful property. To represent one of the highest-priced properties in the Philadelphia market is reflective of our position as the number one seller of luxury properties in the Mid-Atlantic region,” said Gary Scott, president of Long & Foster Real Estate, Inc.

“Increasingly, more owners of higher-end properties are turning to Long & Foster to market their homes because of the exceptional service our sales associates provide and the power of the global spotlight we can provide through our exclusive affiliation with Christie’s International Real Estate and our affiliations with Luxury Portfolio International, Luxury Real Estate and Leading Real Estate Companies of The World,” added Scott.

“The Arbor Hill estate is yet another example of the wide range of extraordinary properties Long & Foster is proud to represent. Sellers and buyers of high-end properties continue to turn us because they recognize the value of the luxury homeownership experience we offer them,” noted Scott.

Designed by world-class architect Rafael Vinoly, who also created the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts in Philadelphia, as well as the Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the U.S. Senate, and served as master planner for New York University’s new Abu Dhabi campus in United Arab Emirates, the 40,000-square-foot main residence of Arbor Hill is constructed of stone and built around an impressive Belgium stone courtyard. Throughout the home’s interior are accents of Venetian plaster, limestone and oak floors and floor-to-ceiling windows designed to maximize views of the courtyard and the surrounding grounds.

“We are thrilled to have this spectacular listing as it is the most important estate in an area of wonderful estates,” said Charles D. Irwin of Long & Foster’s Wayne office. “The property distinguishes itself with stunning architecture, masterful design and magnificent grounds that excite at every turn. This grand estate on vast acreage is truly one of a kind,” he added.

“What makes this property so amazing is to have 70 acres only 30 minutes from the center of the city,” noted Reggie Hunt of Long & Foster’s Wayne office. “The house is designed to display a serious art collection as well as play host to lavish entertaining. In fact, Elton John has performed at the property. We are honored to list the most prominent estate in the Philadelphia region,” Hunt added.

Laid out in three wings, the home features an oversized two-and-one-half story living room with a 30-foot ceiling, a marble fireplace and five sets of French doors that lead to a terrace. A tray ceiling and marble fireplace enhance a step-down library and study. The home also has two dining rooms: a smaller formal one and a larger one that can seat up to 40 guests. In addition, the state-of-the-art custom kitchen offers two islands, three pantries, and an additional family-style dining area.

The master suite includes a sitting room and an office, as well as his-and-her dressing rooms and bathrooms constructed of imported marble. One of the baths features a tub carved from a solid block of marble, a crystal studded toilet and a private flight of stairs that leads to a tower retreat providing a 360-degree panoramic view of the property.

The main living area also includes a two-tiered media room, a family room and a walk-in humidor. A finished basement features a 4,000-bottle capacity temperature-controlled wine cellar and a safe room. The entire home is also climate controlled to ensure the maintenance of art collections.

Arbor Hall offers two stone guest houses and a converted 20,000-square-foot bank barn, which houses an indoor tennis court, sports court, gym, changing rooms and a two-bedroom apartment. Other amenities include an outdoor tennis court, pavilion, swimming pool and a pond. The estate also features a six-car indoor parking garage, as well as an eight-car outdoor parking garage.
