About Frisco
With a population that boomed from 33,714 in 2000 to nearly 117,000 in 2009, Frisco, Texas, is one of the fastest growing suburbs in America. The reasons for this are obvious to anyone in the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area who has looked for a safe, family-friendly area to build a large home, as the city hosts a number of professional, semi-professional, and minor league sports venues as well as multiple cineplexes, upscale shops, and excellent schools. As it has only been developed in recent decades, though its history dates back to a time when what has become Preston Road was travelled by wagon trains that were heading out from Austin along the Old Shawnee Trail, Frisco also offers residents the type of large, unobstructed lawns that simply cannot be found in many of the more densely populated parts of the region. For many with children or grandchildren, the health advantages of such open spaces, when combined with easy access to local events like minor league baseball, basketball, and hockey as well as professional soccer games, have made the city an irresistible choice when it comes to selecting a place to call home. Named by the National Arbor Day Foundation as 'Tree City USA' in 2003, Frisco has also managed to develop these open spaces in a way that preserves their natural beauty and environmental benefits. Likewise, the contemporary nature of its newer homes has enabled the city to develop housing stock that features modern amenities and customized styling.
